Re-creating Cardiff Football Club's 1878 team photograph
Info:
Cardiff's famous blue and black hooped jersey was inspired by the jersey worn by Thomas Rees in 1878, who was then a student at Gonville and Caius College Cambridge. He can be seen wearing a slightly different strip from his team-mates in the 1878/79 team photograph. Evidently, this is the actual Caius College jersey.
This photograph has been re-created with the current Gonville and Caius Rugby Club team (2021/22).
James O'Sullivan is wearing the college's social jersey as a nod to the original photograph.
Back Row: Rob Toogood (Umpire), Hasan Cuthbert, Nikita Yazikov, Henry Weston.
Middle Row: Harry Langford, Tom Kopmels-Markland, William Davis, James O’Sullivan (Capt.), Max Brosnahan, Josh Grier.
Front Row: William Vaughn, Jonny Gathercole, Samuel Odu, Robert Ryan, Oscar Hill.
