ERC elite award. Presented to Cardiff Blues in recognition of outstanding contribution to Heineken Cup. Cardiff Blues had played their 100th tournament game. Their first game was Cardiff v Begles Bordeaux. The game was played at Stade Andre Moga on 21 November 1995, The 100th Game was Cardiff Blues v London Irish, and it was played at the Madejski Stadium, on 14 January 2012. During that period Cardiff Blues had reached the first final, which they lost in extra time to Stade Toulousain. On another occasion they reached the semi final, where they played Leicester Tigers. The game was still tied after extra times and the game went to a penalty shoot out that Cardiff blues lost by a single kick. It was the first [and only time] that a rugby championship match has been settled by a penalty shoot out.
