This tour was the first post the second World War and the first since 1938. It was also the first touring team to be known as the 'British Lions' rather than the 'British Isles'. Cliff Davies, Jack Matthews, Billy Cleaver, Bleddyn Williams and Rex Willis were the Cardiff players selected. The team lost three and drew won test with New Zealand and won both test against Australia.
