Barry Ashcroft played for Cardiff Juniors 1971/72 before moving to South Wales Police RFC.
Cardiff Juniors, later known as Cardiff Youth, had "a splendid season under the captaincy of Paul Kerrigan, they amassed no fewer than 1,006 points, the full results being : P30, W25, L4, D1. Points 1,006 to only 142. The high scoring reflected the expertise of these Youth players and their attacking ability. They were a credit to the club, and to Welsh Youth Rugby. They actually scored 189 tries. On tour, two powerful West Country Colts XV's were defeated, and the open Bridgend & District Sevens tournament was won again"
